Ideas for Proposing on Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve has been voted the most popular day for couples to get engaged in the UK, and it is easy to see why. Christmas is often viewed as the season of love and devotion - with warm fires, fairy lights and feelings of appreciation and devotion at an all time high. According to Facebook, a third of couples get engaged between November and December. Alongside this, a survey conducted by Chillisauce (Stag and Hen do tour operators) stated that 31% of people said they would choose to propose on Christmas Eve.

So, how do you plan the perfect Christmas Eve proposal? There's so much to consider, from finding the perfect diamond engagement ring to deciding when and where you're going to pop the question. Will you get down on one knee in front of your partner's family, or will you propose in the comfort of your own home. At Diamond Heaven we want you to execute the perfect proposal, so we've put together a few ideas to help you propose on Christmas Eve. Don't forget to check out our guide on how to propose.

The Engagement Ring

First things first, you need to think about the engagement ring. Some couples prefer to shop for the ring once someone's got down on one knee - if that works for you then that's great. However, some prefer to surprise their beau with a diamond engagement ring. When it comes to choosing the perfect engagement ring, you should consider their tastes and personality. If they're reserved and refined, then a solitaire round cut diamond with a smaller carat may suit them. If they're outgoing then a trilogy engagement ring with pear cut diamonds will suit.

If your girl/boyfriend has strong family values, then proposing on Christmas Eve is the perfect time of year to bring everybody together. It will help bond both side of the family, making them feel like they're involved in this huge step.

Propose Using an Advent Calendar

If your partner gets excited for Christmas in July, then proposing using an advent calendar is perfect. Whether you choose to make your own advent calendar, or you're sneaking an engagement ring into a chocolate advent calendar, this is a truly romantic way of proposing. If you're choosing to slip the ring in a pre made calendar, we recommend doing it once they've opened the window for the 23rd...

A Christmas Pudding Proposal

Disclaimer: Putting jewellery in any type of food comes with its own risks and choking hazards. Now we've got that out the way, have you thought about swapping those 20 pence pieces for a diamond engagement ring? Unless your partner doesn't like Christmas Pudding, then try a mince pie!

Enlist the Elf on the Shelf

If you and your partner love a little bit of fun, then it is time get Elf on the Shelf involved. Available to order straight from Amazon, you could make this really fun by proclaiming he has been sent from Santa as he suspects you're on the naughty list... Then  you and your partner can have some real fun and games by making Elf get up to all sorts of mischief during the night. He can then him redeem himself by helping you pop the question.

The Horse and Carriage Proposal

If you're a romantic and what to make a statement, then why not propose using a horse and carriage? Whether you choose to dress as an eskimo or suit up, it is a fairy-tale way of popping the question. Get the driver to hide a bottle of prosecco in front and breathe in that fresh Winter air.

Get Your Pet to Help

If you and your partner own a pet together, why not involve them in the process of proposing? From attaching a note to your dog's collar, to involving the cat, it will help alleviate the pressure, and is super cute.
