How do I find out what my partner's engagement ring size is?

The easiest way to find out your partner's ring size is to ask their friends or close family members to subtly find out the perfect ring size. Alternatively, you could borrow one of your partner's dress rings and bring that to the jewellers who can work out the correct size.

Can I finance an engagement ring?

Yes you can. Diamond Heaven offers a variety of engagement ring finance methods. You can either pay up front or apply online to one of our finance deals in a fast and easy process. Should you wear an engagement ring every day?

Stone - This is where the 4Cs come in: Cut, Clarity, Colour and Carat. Cut matters most because it controls how much the diamond sparkles. A poorly cut diamond looks dull regardless of size or clarity. We offer five certificate options including GIA and IGI, so every diamond comes with proof of its grade. Lab-grown diamonds are worth considering too. They're identical to the eye and offer more size for your money.

What matters most when choosing a diamond?

The 4C's are the four most important elements to consider but what do they actually mean?

Cut - How well the diamond has been shaped and faceted.
In real terms: A poor cut will make the diamond appear dull, no matter how clear or colourless it appears. Cut is graded from poor to excellent, and an excellent cut will produce the most sparkle.
Colour - The grade of colour runs from D (clear and colourless) to Z (noticeably yellow).
In real terms: Diamonds in the G-I range still look clear to the naked eye.
Clarity - measures the presence of flaws (inclusions) graded from Flawless to Obvious Inclusions.
In real terms: Anything from a VS2 (very slightly included) is typically clear to the naked eye. Meaning you'd need to look with a jewellers loupe to see any flaws.
Carat - The weight of the diamond.
In real terms: The carat has the most impact on the price of the diamond as the higher the carat the bigger the diamond.

What actually matters in practice: From our decades of experience, Diamond Heaven jewellery experts recommend prioritising the cut of the diamond first and then letting your budget determine the clarity, colour and carat. Most jewellers will recommend carat to get you to buy the biggest diamond, but a big diamond doesn't necessarily mean the shiniest.

Are lab-grown and natural diamonds the same?

Lab-grown diamonds are physically and chemically identical to natural diamonds. The difference is origin, not quality. Both sparkle the same, test the same and look the same to the naked eye.

The biggest difference is price. Lab-grown diamonds cost less than natural diamonds of the same size and grade. Along with a reduction in the environmental impact. Natural diamonds carry the romantic allure of rarity and billions of years of history behind them. People value that story and the long-term demand it holds.

What is your returns and exchanges policy?

We want every customer to be delighted with their purchase. In the rare event you're not happy, you're entitled to a full refund within 30 days of receiving your ring. Exchanges are also welcome if you spot something you'd prefer. We pride ourselves on fully protecting and completely removing all risks for our customers.

Can my ring be resized?

If the fit isn't right, our resizing service uses laser sizing to adjust the band with no loss of gram weight and no visible join marks. Most rings can be altered by up to three sizes. Although, fully diamond-set bands cannot be resized due to their design.

How much should I spend on my engagement ring?

All our diamond jewellery is handmade. Depending on certain factors, production times can vary.

Solitaire engagement rings - 2-3 working weeks approximately.
Multi-stone rings (Shoulder set rings, Halo rings, bridal sets, trilogy rings, eternity rings, diamond set wedding rings) - 3-4 working weeks approximately.
Stock Items - 3-5 working days approximately

How do I find her ring size secretly?

Here at Diamond Heaven most of our rings can be resized within 3 sizes, so don't worry too much if your first measurement isn't perfect. Our top tips to secretly find her ring size include:

Ask her friends or family - One of the simplest methods, and the most effective! Her friends or family may already know her ring size, or be able to ask in a more casual way that won't raise suspicion.
Borrow a ring she already wears or check her jewellery box - Bring a ring she wears already on her ring finger to your appointment, and we can measure it in seconds. If you're worried about her noticing her ring is missing, quickly trace the inside of the ring on a piece of paper and return it before she does.
The string/paper trick - while she's asleep loosely wrap a thin strip of paper, string or even dental floss around her finger and mark where it overlaps.
