Another great shout, ‘All of Me' by John Legend is a beautiful first dance song! Classic Popular First Dance Songs

1987: (I'VE HAD) THE TIME OF MY LIFE - BILL MEDLEY AND JENNIFER WARNES

What's a first dance song list without ‘Time of My Life' by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes? The ‘80's was a wonderful time for wedding songs, and this one is probably one of our favourites. Used as the backing track for Baby (Jennifer Grey) and Jonny's (Patrick Swayze) iconic dance routine, it is a super romantic and fun first dance track! This song has won numerous awards, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Grammy Award! Should you and your partner choose this beautiful song, we don't recommend you try the lift at the end... (unless you've practised it of course!)

1982:  UP WHERE WE BELONG - JOE COCKER AND JENNIFER WARNES

Another song written for a film, ‘Up Where We Belong' was written for the classic 1982 film, ‘An Officer and a Gentleman', starring Debra Winger and Richard Gere. The song  reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. and topped the charts many other countries. It also sold one million copies in the U.S. The lyrics of the song are incredibly romantic (what more do you need for your first dance song?), and you and your new husband/wife could even recreate the iconic ending scene in ‘An Officer and a Gentleman'...

1966: GOD ONLY KNOWS - THE BEACH BOYS

God Only Knows is a wonderful song that holds a lot of meaning - perfect for a couple's first dance!  Released during the ‘60s by The Beach Boys, this song isn't specific to any God, and was going to be called ‘Fred Only Knows' as it was risky to have ‘God' on the title at the time. This beautiful song was voted 25th in Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, and was chosen by Pitchfork Media as the greatest song of the 1960s.

1961: CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE - ELVIS PRESLEY

If you and your partner are after a classic love song, then why not consider a song from the King of Rock n Roll, Elvis Presley? ‘Can't Help Falling in Love' is a wonderful song that's been covered by numerous artists in the last five decades, so if you don't necessarily want your first dance to be an Elvis track, then consider going for a cover. We love the ukulele cover by 21 Pilots, and the reggae cover by Birmingham group UB40? You can't help falling in love with this first dance song!
