Diamond Clarity

Clarity is a measure of the imperfections or more commonly known as inclusions in a diamond. These imperfections are known as 'feathers, carbon and bubbles' depending on the shape of the inclusion. They can come in different shapes and sizes depending on the clarity of the stone.

The clarity chart below shows the different clarity grades you can purchase in a diamond.

FL/IF (Flawless/Internally Flawless) - A flawless diamond will have no internal inclusions or blemishes visible to a skilled graders eye under 10x magnification while an internally flawless diamond will have only blemishes visible under 10x magnification to a skilled diamond grader. The rarest clarity of diamonds. These diamonds are highly priced as they are free from internal inclusions.

VVS1/VVS2 (Very Very Slightly Included) - In this grade the inclusions will be very difficult for a skilled grader to find under a 10x magnification glass.

VS1/VS2 (Very slightly included) - Imperfections in the diamond are visible under 10x magnification. This clarity has a fantastic sparkle and is cheaper than the VVS clarity.

SI1/SI2 (Slightly included) - Inclusions are clearly visible under 10x magnification glass and maybe visible to the unaided eye. This is fantastic value for money as they are quite clean and sparkling but not as expensive as VS or VVS clarity.

I1/I2/I3 (Included) - Inclusions are visible to the naked eye.
